  • Feel safe, respected, and valued
  • Are protected from harm, abuse, and exploitation
  • Can participate in activities in a secure environment

To develop strategic thinkers and future leaders by using chess as a tool for learning, discipline, and personal growth.

To create a generation of young people equipped with the mindset, confidence, and skills to succeed in life.

Dr Letor Lee

Dr Letor Lee’s journey is rooted in resilience, vision, and an unshakable belief in the power of the human mind.

Born in Umuahia, Nigeria, and raised with strong cultural values from the Ogoni people of Rivers State, Letor’s early life was shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a deep desire to rise above limitations. From a young age, he understood that true transformation begins in the mind, how we think determines how we act, and ultimately, what we become.

Letor became a chess champion at 12, winning the Nakish chess tournament held in portharcourt Nigeria at Shell RA. Letor has gone ahead to win many other tournaments, teaching chess at schools and building the Minds of youngsters, imbibing discipline, focus, and patience through chess.

Migrating to the United Kingdom, Letor encountered the realities many in the diaspora face: the silent pressure to adapt, the challenge of identity, and the constant need to prove one’s worth in unfamiliar systems. Rather than be defined by these challenges, he studied them, lived through them, and began to build a framework for overcoming them.

Today, as a PhD. researcher in Business and Law, Letor’s work explores how individuals, particularly those from Afro-Caribbean and diaspora communities, can transform their identities into powerful assets in a global, technology driven world. His concept of the *“Invisible Burden of Identity Translation”* highlights the unseen effort many expend to navigate spaces that were not designed for them while still striving for excellence.

But Letor’s mission extends far beyond academic research.

He is the founder of Strategic Minds UK, an initiative built on a simple but powerful idea: that strategic thinking is a life skill, not a privilege. Through platforms like chess education, mentorship, and community engagement, Strategic Minds UK is designed to equip young people and adults alike with the tools to think critically, act decisively, and lead confidently.

Letor who also holds a diploma in education and training [DET) and a Masters in Project Management from Northumbria University United Kingdom is a professional Scrum Master and Business Analyst.

For Letor, chess is more than a game. It is a metaphor for life. It teaches patience, foresight, resilience, and accountability. Every move matters. Every decision has consequences. Every individual, regardless of background, has the potential to become a master of their own path.

In addition to his work with Strategic Minds UK, Letor is also the founder of the Letor Lee Foundation, where he continues his commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and social impact. His broader vision includes creating safe, structured environments where young people can discover discipline, purpose, and self-belief.

Driven by faith, purpose, and a passion for impact, Dr Letor Lee is building more than programmes. He is building a movement. A movement that challenges limitations, redefines potential, and develops the next generation of strategic thinkers and future champions.

His message is clear: “Greatness is not given. It is developed, one decision at a time.” Every action has consequences.
